In my last post I talked about 4 popular choices for acrylic worsted weight yarn. Like I said last time acrylic yarn is easy to find, affordable and comes in some amazing colours and textures. I also stressed that not all acrylics are the same. Some are soft, some are starchy. Some make great afghans, others are great for sweaters. I'm going to continue this week by reviewing 3 more brands. These 3 can be found at Michael's or other big brand stores. Let's get started!

Michael's
Loops & Threads - Impeccable
Michael's has their own line of yarn just like Hobby Lobby does. I believe that this yarn is their answer to Red Heart's Soft yarn. It's softer than RHSS but not as soft as Red Heart Soft. There are tons of great colours available and it's a very affordable yarn.
I don't find Impeccable as soft as Hobby Lobby's I love This Yarn but if you're like me and you don't have access to Hobby Lobby then it's an affordable alternative. I find that it's true to it's weight much like RHSS so you won't have problems with it being too thin or too thick when you work with it. This is not an anti-pilling yarn so you may see some fuzz when you pull it out of the washer and dryer.

Bernat
Super Value
Bernat is a yarn company that makes a ton of different types of yarn. This is their most affordable worsted weight for the amount you get. I really like this yarn. I find that it is nice and soft to work with and there are some really rich colours. I would like to note that when I'm working with it the strand will compress a bit but I really like the stretch my work has after I'm done with it. It's not stiff like some yarns and you get a lot in one ball. I actually like this yarn better than RHSS and Loops & Threads Impeccable. However, you do need to watch your gauge because of how it works up.
I am currently making a headband with this yarn and I really like how it's turning out. Once again, that's due to the stretch of it, plus I think it's going to be super soft and warm. This is not an anti-pilling yarn so you'll have to look out for fuzzies when you wash it.

Lion Brand
Heartland
When you start crocheting and you're in the yarn store one of the big brands you will see is Lion Brand. I recently found the Heartland line and I fell in love with the colours available. I really like how it has almost a marbled look about it. This gives the yarn a different dynamic and it makes your projects look amazing! I found, working with it that it was a lighter worsted weight yarn, like Caron Simply Soft. It's really nice and soft to work with and works up beautifully.
I made an absolutely gorgeous scarf for my father for Christmas out of this yarn and I was really happy with how it turned out. You do have to watch out if you wash it because it may pill. This is one of the more expensive worsted weight yarns but it's worth it.
I hope that this post has helped you distinguish between some of the yarns out there. Be sure to check back to my past post too if you don't see one you're curious about in today's post. Next time I'm going to look at my last 3 yarns, which are a bit harder to find, but well worth looking for!
Your turn:
Is there a yarn you're wondering about? Let me know and I will try it out (if I haven't) and write up a review to it.
Am I right, or do you disagree? Is there a yarn on here that you love or hate and why?
